JOY ORLEK LUFTHANSA CARGO is stepping up investment in aviation security, and its Johannesburg station is one of the focus points. Apart from structural conversion, additional alarm systems will be installed and a new security service appointed. New interventions in the cargo complexes at Munich and Frankfurt Airports from January 2007 will include a combination of cutting-edge, x-ray and explosives detection systems. “Munich and Frankfurt will serve as model stations showcasing new technologies in airfreight security,” said Karl-Heinz Koepfle, Lufthansa Cargo board member operations.
