BENEFITS TO the economy of the 2010 FIFA World Cup tend to focus around tourism – but the positive benefits for the freight industry are clearly apparent in the volume of project business already handled and still to come. It’s now four years since the announcement of South Africa’s hosting of the event, and the logistics industry has clearly played its role in the construction of stadia around the country. National chairperson of the 2010 Local Organising Committee, Dr Irvin Khoza, said most of the stadia would be completed before the end of the year.
