Lloyd Triestino invests in 300 new reefers

A SUBSTANTIAL investment in 300 new reefers is evidence that Lloyd Triestino is well and alive and still very much committed to South Africa, says Captain Fabio Marcolin, assistant manager of the company's Africa section.
The environment-friendly 20-foot and 40-foot high cube reefers, painted in LT's distinctive white and blue colours, were built in China and will be used exclusively on the Lloyd Triestino/MSC weekly Mediterranean service. (Lloyd Triestino has a slot charter agreement with MSC)
The service covers Durban, Port Elizabeth, Cape Town, and the West Mediterranean ports of Valencia, Livorno, La Spezia and Barcelona.
Marcolin told FTW Lloyd Triestino was satisfied with the number of slots available and also with the service given by MSC.
Lloyd Triestino has had close ties with South Africa for some 70 years and its commitment to South Africa remains long-term, he says.
The bulk of the new reefers have already been delivered to Cape Town and Port Elizabeth.
