Shipping lines will raise a "Container Services Surcharge" of US$50/teu on all import and export cargo in and out of Dar es Salaam with immediate effect, according to information released to FTW. It’s an attempt at cost recovery by the lines who are facing rising stevedoring/ handling costs in the port since the imposition of VAT on stevedoring charges.
