IN RESPONSE to a reader's query, the nominated agent in SA for ACCLM certificates is King & Sons.
The ACCLM (certificate of loading in accordance with Madagascar legislation) has been demanded by the island's authorities. It is proof of payment of a surcharge levied on all cargoes imported into Madagascar, and applicable from June 28.
These pre-paid certificates must accompany every bill of lading (BoL) for both breakbulk and containerised cargoes. Shipments without an ACCLM "will be subject to severe penalties", according to the Madagascan authorities, and will not be cleared until the form is produced, and all penalties settled.
