Kenyan government commissions Mombasa access road

The new road would provide immediate access to and from the new Kipevu West Container Terminal at the Port of Mombasa.

Kenyan president Uhuru Kenyatta has commissioned the construction of an access road for Port Reitz and Moi International Airport in the city of Mombasa.

According to the daily newspaper, East African Business Week, funding of US$20 million has been procured from the United Kingdom (UK) Department of International Development.  A further $11 million will reportedly be financed by the Government of Kenya.

The 6.4-kilometre new road will reduce traffic congestion at the Port Reitz area – a major artery in the movement of cargo to and from Mombasa port, according to a TradeMark East Africa (TMEA) spokesperson cited by the business daily.
