NOW INTO its fifth year of operation, Katlego Global Logistics is set for take-off into Africa.
Managing director Moses Maboi believes airfreight into Africa is a market of strong potential and has laid a firm foundation for future growth.
Katlego has signed an agency agreement with Wayne Freight, a privately-owned, medium-sized company with offices in Kenya, Uganda, Southern Sudan, Kigali and Burundi.
Wayne Freight was established eight years ago and is keen to grow business from South Africa, as Katlego is keen to expand its export business to the region. Markets of strong potential include the
DRC, Kenya, Angola, Mozambique, Tanzania, Mali and Botswana.
The agency deal was signed last September following a successful joint operation on an airfreight shipment in Conakry.
In the year ahead Katlego will concentrate on United Nations and Relief agency business, where Maboi believes its black empowerment status will offer big advantages.
He sees the DRC as a market of major potential as peace returns to the region. “When business starts up, we want to be there.”
Maboi is currently looking for a suitable candidate to head up the
airfreight division, service existing clients and grow the business.
By the end of this year he hopes to have the company listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.
