The Murrimo Macadâmias company in Mozambique is due to start its first harvest of macadamia nuts in March - five years after it started planting.

It is a joint venture between SA’s Crookes Brothers and White Bird International of the Netherlands, and has already invested almost R324 million in its venture to plant macadamia on a 3 000-hectare plot, of which 240 hectares have already been planted.

The macadamia is a fairly recent entrant to the list of Moz’s agri-product exports, but it is a rapidly expanding business.
