Jacobsen’s adds more information to electronic tariff

Prohibited goods list now appended KEVIN MAYHEW JACOBSEN’S ELECTRONIC Tariff (JET), the electronic Customs tariff, now has a Companion! “The JET Companion provides JET subscribers with all the compliance information they need in respect of imports and exports and will be continuously expanded and updated,” says Jacobsen’s director, Clive King. The JET Companion is being provided by Jacobsen’s to supplement JET and provide subscribers with the Prohibited and Restricted Goods list for both imports and exports, the Customs and Excise Act, many of the application forms needed on a daily basis, including most of the DA forms currently in use. All these are available in fillable format so that they can be completed on screen and then printed for submission to Customs and/or other agencies. The JET Companion will also shortly provide a “book” look alike for JET. This innovation is provided for those subscribers who prefer the “all on one page” view of the Customs tariff book. JET subscribers will be able to view the Customs tariff in the old-fashioned book format or in the normal JET display. “We have found that many of our subscribers are so used to the view provided by the Customs tariff book that they battle to adapt to the digital presentation of JET,” says King. The book look alike is intended to satisfy the older hands, specially entry clerks, who have been using the Customs tariff book for many years. The JET Companion was released to subscribers earlier this month.
