Investments continue to flow into Moz

ALAN PEAT MOZAMBIQUE HAS continued to receive a good flow of both national and foreign investments, according to the latest edition of Investors Intelligence (II). In the third quarter of 2005, it reported, the Investment Promotion Centre approved a total of 37 projects totalling some R469-million. These projects are in a wide range of sectors. SA remains the leader in terms of foreign direct investment (FDI) and number of projects, the report added, with R112.6-m and 16 projects respectively during the last three months. It was followed by Sweden, Portugal, Spain and Zimbabwe – with the UK, which has swapped the leading position with SA in recent years, temporarily pushed out of the top five. But for FDI in the first six months of the year the UK was still well in the lead with investments of R176.9-m, SA taking second spot with R109.9-m, then Portugal with R43.5-m and Zimbabwe with R32.8-m.
