ANTHONIE VERPLOEGH has been appointed national logistics manager for Safcor Panalpina. He was previously with Bidfreight Logistics on the business development side and was recently involved in the re-engineering of Safcon before moving across to Safcor Panalpina. While working for the old Rennies Logistics, he was involved in setting up the automotive logistics entity as well as the technology logistics entity. "It is our intention to provide logistics and supply chain management services on a direct company to client basis rather than as a second tier service provider to the supply chain. Wherever possible, Safcor Panalpina will provide these services in its own right and, where appropriate, we will make use of Bidfreight solution providers," he told FTW. Verploegh is a qualified mechanical engineer and holds a B.Com degree.
