Kevin Mayhew THE BOOMING Zambian economy has made transportation within the country as opposed to cross-border operations very attractive, according to the director of Truckafrica, Jan Greyling. He said transit movement over border from Zambia was characterised by more southbound than northbound cargo and this posed cost problems, but the demand for movement of cargo within the country had increased. “This type of work also gives you more control of vehicle activity as you do not have vehicles tied up unexpectedly at border posts,” he added. Truckafrica has 44 Superlink vehicles based in Zambia and has recently introduced trucks specifically for the increased movement of fuel within the country, he added.
