The demanding fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector requires software that integrates and eliminates recapturing. According to Renko Bergh of Forte Transport Solutions this saves time and cuts costs. “In the FMCG market there is a continued increase in overheads and labour costs for logistics services providers. This makes software that improves productivity essential.” But, said Bergh, digitilisation had become the norm. “The challenge is no longer in the ability to find software, but rather in developing the strategy to implement it and ensure that the culture of each company adopts software as an enabler. “Our software implementation teams focus on this process and combine industry experience with deep software knowledge. Selecting the correct partner is crucial,” he says. According to Bergh Forte completed its certification process at the end of 2018 to be a WiseTech Global implementation partner in South Africa for their software offering CargoWise One. “Until now, we could not service our clients with the forwarding, clearing and customs services, but this has now changed. This product is a deeply integrated software solution for logistics service providers that provides modules like forwarding, customs clearance and accounting capabilities among others. “We will offer training on the software modules and project management of the software implementation, supporting the process of go-live and providing support guidance as per customer requirements.” He said the company continued to implement software from an industry perspective, rather than a software technical angle. “We bridge the gap,” said Bergh, emphasising the importance of a neutral software solutions-based implementation.
