Zambia’s Centre for Trade, Policy and Development (CTPD) says the landlocked country is currently losing about US$$3 billion through illicit financial flows (IFFS) per annum.
Speaking the launch of the 'Stop Bleeding Campaign' – established to halt the flow of illicit financial transactions – CTPD executive director, Isabel Mukelabai, said Zambia was among the hardest hit countries in terms of illicit financial flows as the economy relies on mining extraction which had many illicit commercial activities, including corruption.
She called on African governments to take stronger action against this scourge as well.
