AFTER A new management decision that the original presentation of CASS Ð the centralised airline billing system Ð had been conducted in "an unfortunate way", the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in SA is going out on a nationwide "get together" roadshow with the airlines and the airfreight agents community. "When I took over in February," said Hans de Lange, regional manager for Southern Africa, "I asked myself the question: Why does CASS operate well worldwide, but not in SA?" The in-house answers were to get all the control functions in the system in place and appoint a second staff member to deal exclusively with CASS matters. But in the outside airfreight world, De Lange added: There is still work to be done. "We need transparency and communication with all involved." De Lange is therefore intending to run country-wide workshops in November.
