KEVIN MAYHEW HUNTING TROPHY exports are big business out of Windhoek in a market that is generally very stagnant at present, according to the international marketing director of Express Air Services, Basson Piek. “Apart from the trophies we are seeing some fish exports and other irregular cargo types and we are very bullish about the future” he said. EAS was appointed off-line GSSA for British Airways World Cargo in Namibia two years ago to increase its regional network and give EAS Namibia flexibility in a market in which it has over 400 agents. EAS has a dedicated office in Windhoek as part of its network to provide an extensive service throughout southern Africa and beyond. It has independent refrigeration facilities at South African perishable export gateway ports. The company represents a number of international airlines as a GSSA or Cargo Handling Agent(CHA) and has introduced a new specialist service where it has taken over the complete cargo function of regional airlines to free them up to concentrate on their core profit driver, passengers.
