TERRY HUTSON NORWEGIAN SHIPPING line Hual has marked the success of its SA service with the naming of one of its vessels Hual Durban, in honour of the port and city. The vessel arrived in Durban last week where a representative of Sapo went on board to present the master with a plaque commemorating the maiden visit. Also on hand was the ships agent from Freightbulk. She is one of seven new chartered vessels and seven newbuildings entering service between now and 2007. One of the top five global car carrier operators, Hual celebrated 10 years on the South Africa service last year. Although the lineÕs call frequency was initially modest with a single ship call a month from Europe, this business has since increased dramatically and currently averages between 10 and 12 ship calls each month at the three ports of Durban, East London and Port Elizabeth.
