SHIPPERS OF valuable and vulnerable goods can now have their cargo brought directly into Guardforce International vaults within two and a half minutes of the aircraft landing, following the opening of its heliport with fixed wing facility at Johannesburg International Airport. “It’s the realisation of a long-held vision,” director Fred Zenna told guests at the launch last week. “We can now fly cargo directly from the mines or anywhere in Africa, move it into our vault and from there into a rolling vault so that the customer is not at risk at any stage. “Nowhere else in the world is there a facility with this level of security,” he said. The heliport operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and was facilitated by the financial commitment of a consortium of partners. “The process of loading and unloading can now take place in a completely secure environment,” said director Ravi Pillay. “We believe that we have now closed every loophole in the chain.” Guardforce International, which boasts a pilfer-free record after more than five years of operation, markets itself as an outsourced option for valuable and vulnerable cargo with specific focus on the freight forwarding community.
