FOUR YEARS since the launch of its airfreight division, independent groupage operator CFR Freight is finding a growing market, particularly for its Africa services. “Our main routes, which include Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda in East Africa and Ghana, Nigeria and Angola in West Africa are attracting growing volumes, with cargo moving on a daily basis,” says managing director Martin Keck. “To certain destinations we offer a freight collect option.” Raj Govender, a veteran in the field with 15 years of airfreight experience, heads up the division from its Gauteng headquarters. Branch offices run by experienced airfreight staff have been set up in Durban, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town. “The company’s founding principles are applied equally in the airfreight division,” says Govender, “strict neutrality and dealing with clearing and forwarding agents only.” Both sea and air cargo volumes into Africa have grown substantially, says Keck. “We have an established network of agents on the continent and are able to serve any destination.”
