Swedish-based jeweller, Kristallen Sweden, is planning to set up a gold refinery in Namibia, said trade and Industry minister, Calle Schlettwein. According to him, the company is acquiring the appropriate licence from the Ministry of Mines and Energy but has not yet been decided where the refinery will be located. Namibia currently has two gold operations, the Navachab Gold Mine in the Erongo Region and Otjikoto B2Gold mine near Otjiwarongo in the Otjozondjupa Region. The country does not have a processing plant, with all the gold exported outside Namibia in raw form.
