Global perishable group expands to SA

THE AUSTRALIAN-based Global Perishable Logistics Group (GPLG) intends to launch a service in SA for perishable cargo importers/exporters and perishable service providers. According to Sara Shamsai, marketing co-ordinator for the group, this is a worldwide temperature-controlled logistics and distribution chain. The company, she added, is a membership-based network of global perishable freight forwarders founded in 1999 by John Warren, m.d. of WDM International (Australia) and GPLG. “We currently have members in over 67 cities across 34 countries around the world - to be found on the www.gplg.org website,” Shamsai told FTW. “A conglomeration of industry leaders under the one brand means not only a stronger cold-chain, but also the creation of new benchmarks for the handling of perishable cargo around the world.” GPLG is holding its second annual conference from April 8-13 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
