IN CELEBRATION of its 30th anniversary this year, FTW has chosen to sponsor a previously disadvantaged student at the Simon’s Town School. Musa Mbakaza, one of the top Grade 10 students at the school, will receive the bursary which includes tuition and boarding fees. He comes from a township in the Gauteng area and according to the head of maritime studies at the school, Brian Ingpen, apart from an extremely good academic performance, including excellent marks in the two maritime subjects of maths and science, he has shown real aptitude for sailing. He began sailing only this year, but was chosen as a crewmember of a yacht competing in the Lipton Cup and NCS regattas in Durban. FTW will follow his progress with interest.
