South Africa has won quarantine approval to sell more deciduous fruits and nuts to Indonesia.
“The Indonesian Quarantine Agency signed a document this week granting South Africa status as a country of recognition for its food safety control system, thus increasing the export potential for South African deciduous fruit,” says agricultural information service, Hortgro in a press release on their website.
“This establishes a new trading regime that will ease the import process and documentation requirements. It also opens up the port of Jakarta as an entry point into Indonesia,” says Anton Rabe, Hortgro executive director.
The following products have been included in the quarantine approval: apples; apricots; cherries; citrus fruits; grapes; grapefruit; lemons; nectarines; oranges; peaches; pears; peanuts; plums; pomelos; and prunes.
