Our Correspondent in Durban, Lyse Comins, has been nominated for the ‘KZN Top Business Woman Award’ which will be announced shortly.

Comins, who is a born-and-bred local from Ethekwini, became an accomplished journalist by working her way through the ranks of daily newspapers like the Mercury.

Besides Freight News, her accurate and thought-provoking business stories appear in a range of other publications such as the Financial Mail and Mail & Guardian.

When hard news happens she’s on top of it, and her nomination confirms her dedication to progressive cooperation with the events she often covers.

Fastidiously protecting her sources and preferring humility over hubris, she asked not to reveal how her nomination had come about.

Freight News has, however, reliably learned that she was attending a function promoting South African business when one of the event’s organisers suggested that her name be included in the competition.

Comins’ nomination is said to stem from the fact that she has become renowned for being a “top influencer who is active among people making an impact”.
