Rogers-IDS to open an airfreight office in August
KEVIN MAYHEW
GROWING OPPORTUNITIES in Mozambique have prompted Rogers International Distribution Services Limitada to open a dedicated office in the heart of the capital city of Maputo. In addition a new office is planned for the city’s international airport. Rogers-IDS country manager, Lloyd Kennoo, says that the company has been operating in Maputo since 2001 and is the sole freight representative of SAA Cargo, which it has also represented in Mauritius for the past 48 years for passengers and freight. Rogers IDS is the freight division of the Mauritius-based Rogers Group which has more than 150 companies on the Indian Ocean island. “With 80% of our work being airfreight it makes sense for us to have a strong presence at the airport, and our office there will be operational from August 1 this year. Apart from this, we are doing about 150 tons of textiles a month by road and sea mainly through Beira. We also handle all air freight for removal of personal and household effects companies based in Maputo,” Kennoo told FTW. Rogers-IDS LDA also freights frozen lobsters to New York and Brussels to the tune of 1,5 tons a month. More unusually it specialises in pet transportation as well as export wool to international destinations.
