AIRFREIGHT INTO Entebbe is a growing market for Spartan-based Africa specialist Intra Speed. “It’s a popular alternative due to the huge problem in the port of Mombasa where rail wagons are unavailable and truckers unreliable,” says director Jade da Costa. “We are slowly moving traditional seafreight clients over to the airfreight option which provides them with a regular, reliable service that their clients can count on.” The company is also in discussions with its handling partner regarding the availability of aircraft in Entebbe for on-carriage to the DRC, Sudan, Burundi and Rwanda. “We are also looking to increase our market share into Nairobi and Dar es Salaam,” says Da Costa. “We have been approached to handle several projects for certain hotel operators in the region where a significant increase in the number of visiting business people has prompted several hotel upgrades,” he said.
