THE ONCE hugely popular forklift competition has been revived under the auspices of the Chartered Institute of Logistics SA (Ciltsa). The first competition took place in 1975 and was driven by Des Fell of the Institute of Materials Handling. “I was thoroughly fed up with forklift operators knocking down and into racks,” said Fell. “I decided we should have a forklift competition to show how the operators should be driving.” 2008 will see a series of regional competitions taking place in August and September, followed by the national competition in October.
