Flexibility ensures that cargo meets deadlines

JOY ORLEK A BUOYANT trade environment has seen significant growth in volumes for clearing and forwarding company Landwave Air & Sea. “We move cargo on the Gauteng – Durban, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town routes, using road and rail transport,” says managing director Thabo Hlongwane. But along with the rest of the industry, Hlongwane is far from satisfied with the service provided by Spoornet, frequently opting for the more expensive road option to meet sensitive deadlines. “The steep increase in diesel is adding to the industry’s woes, but the current state of the rail network provides a limited alternative,” he said. Flexibility and commitment is what makes the difference at Landwave, says Hlongwane. “It’s not unusual to find our staff packing boxes late on Friday night so that the vehicle can be dispatched over the weekend to meet the stacks on Monday. “Our own warehousing facilities on site allow for this kind of flexibility.” Landwave Air & Sea is a BEE compliant company offering the full range of international logistics services.
