Fleet safety, AARTO compliance, driver fatigue and the use of technology to improve operational efficiency will be among the key issues under discussion at the Road Freight Association's (RFA) virtual Transport Forum on August 18.
The complimentary online event will bring together industry specialists to discuss the risks facing fleet operators and practical measures to improve safety, regulatory compliance and fleet performance.
RFA chief executive Gavin Kelly will open the forum with an overview of the top risks facing fleet operators in 2026. This will be followed by sessions examining driver wellness, fatigue management and corridor security, predictive safety technologies and labour compliance within the road freight industry.
The programme includes discussions on proactive vehicle roadworthiness and maintenance, operational risk management, cargo security and load monitoring, as well as tyre management and strategies to reduce operating costs.
A dedicated session on AARTO will examine employers' responsibilities, compliance requirements and the potential impact of the legislation on fleet operators.
According to the RFA, the forum forms part of its ongoing Transport Forum series, which addresses operational and regulatory issues affecting South Africa's freight and logistics sector.
