Fitch affirms SA’s credit rating

South Africa has overcome its third ratings hurdle as Fitch Ratings announced this morning that is had kept South Africa's credit rating at 'BBB-'.

The credit ratings agency said in a statement that the long-term outlook was stable.  Senior director at Fitch, Jan Friedrich, pointed out that that low gross domestic product (GDP) growth, high debt levels and “significant” fiscal deficits were balanced by strong policy institutions and government debt structure.
