First ship to shore gantries for East London

Two mobile ship to shore gantries are on order to East London – which means that ungeared vessels will be able to call on the port for the first time. The first gantry is due to arrive in the port before the end of the year, and the second early next year, according to Eastern Cape terminal executive Siya Mhlaluka. According to Mhalaluka, the gantries are part of a R2.7-bn investment in the port which will also see the entry being widened and the bulk grain elevator refurbished.
