First of new SAA freighters arrives

South African Airways Cargo (SAA Cargo) has taken delivery of a B737 400 freighter as part of its fleet modernisation programme. A further aircraft, a Boeing 737 -300, will replace the current B737-200 and is expected to be delivered in July – giving the airline three B737 300Fs and one B737 400F. “The bigger aircraft will provide extra capacity on key routes,” Tleli Makhetha, SAA Cargo’s general manager, said. The B737- 400 freighter has capacity for 20-22 tons on 10 pallet positions.
