Purchases can be
dropped off at any FedEx
or Rennies branch

FEDEX EXPRESS has launched an innovative scheme to save international tourists travelling around South Africa from the drudge of carrying their growing collection of purchases with them wherever they go.
"Just drop them in at the nearest branch of Rennies Foreign Exchange when handling money affairs, and they will be whisked off to wherever they are needed, either in this country or back to the tourist's home," says Sameer Wadhwa, FedEx's marketing manager in South Africa.
Rennies Foreign Exchange and FedEx announced their new strategic alliance last week. It aims to give customers an express package service from branches in this country to destinations throughout the world.
"From our side it's a move from a business-to-business operation, which is our daily service, to a business-to-customer deal," says Wadhwa. "It combines the global reach of FedEx as the world's largest mover of express packages with the comprehensive network of one of South Africa's leading providers of specialised travel foreign exchange services.
"Its is a simple yet very serviceable method of helping tourists and travellers to get their goods to wherever they want them to go without the burden of carrying them as part of their baggage. You don't have to go looking for one of our offices. There are 65 Rennies Foreign Exchange outlets throughout the country and the packages can be deposited at any of them for safe handling."
The Sandton City branch is the first outlet to offer the service, aimed at businesses in the complex. Branches in other cities will roll out the service early in the New Year, according to Craig Macfarlane of Rennies Foreign Exchange.
"We will take them off the tourists' hands and, making use of FedEx's network which operates through 210 countries, get them safely to home base," he says.
