Overborder transporter Falcongate Logistics is tapping into a new market with the addition of ten new refrigerated units to its fleet. For managing director John Wheadon it’s a return to his roots, having cut his teeth in the refrigerated transport industry in the UK and Europe. And so far, he told FTW, the market has responded well. “We’re doing a lot of frozen foods and general refrigerated consumables for grocery outlets in Malawi and Tete – and have just firmed up a big fruit contract for an importer in Zimbabwe.” The company has until now specialised in general cargo to over-border destinations. A slowdown in this market motivated the purchase of the new units, Wheadon said. “We are able to offer both 28- and 30-pallet combinations with Thermo King SB210+ units for frozen or chilled produce to Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi and Tete. “All our trucks are fitted with satellite tracking.”
