THE THREE companies in the Deutsche Post World Net will be integrated to form a global major in express logistics.
The three group companies involved are DHL, Danzas and Deutsche Post Euro Express, all of which will regroup under the DHL banner.
Immediately following the European Commission (EC) stamp of approval of the Deutsche Post takeover of DHL, the STAR programme swung into gear. This will result in all the group's domestic and international parcels and express business, and logistics functions (total revenue, (21-bn) falling under the DHL banner from 2003.
While the DHL/
Danzas Air and Ocean unit will remain in Basel, Switzerland, the administrative centres of Danzas (Basel), Euro Express (Bonn, Germany) and DHL (Brussels, Belgium) will be merged at the Brussels site.
"One brand, one management, one administrative centre in Brussels," said group chairman Dr. Klaus Zumwinkel.
Describing the STAR's goals, he said that net profit from operating activities will rise by roughly 40% by 2005 Ð from the (2.2-bn forecast for 2002 to (3.1-bn.
