EU Steel Products Safeguard Investigation Initiated

The European Union (EU) on 27 March notified the World Trade Organisation (WTO) Committee on Safeguards that it had initiated on 26 March a safeguard investigation on certain steel products, classifiable in various tariff subheadings in tariff chapters 72 and 73.

A safeguard investigation seeks to determine whether increased product imports are causing, or are threatening to cause, serious injury to a domestic industry. During a safeguard investigation, importers, exporters and other interested parties can present evidence and views and respond to the presentations of other parties.

Interested parties have until 16 April to provide comment.
