Eskom has announced the “precautionary” suspension of its Assurance and Forensic senior general manger and chief audit executive, Molefi Nkhabu.
Nkhabu will be suspended pending an investigation into allegations that he falsely signed off on reports that contained conclusions exonerating some previous Eskom executives implicated in maladministration during internal audit investigations.
“The Eskom executive management, whilst espousing the principle of the presumption of innocence, due to the seniority of Mr Nkhabu and the seriousness of the allegations made against him, took a decision that it would be better for him to be suspended until the investigation is finalised,” a statement from the power utility read.
