THE GAUTENG operation of Safcor Freight was awarded its ISO 9002 certification a year ago, and at the time the objective was nationwide certification by the end of 1997.
That, says chairman Peter Desilla, is now the situation. The entire South African operation is now fully listed.
Desilla was m.d. of Safcor Freight at the time of the Gauteng award. Now, as chairman, he smiles on the national situation.
Effective quality management is critical in a service business such as ours, where thousands of transactions take place and where hundreds of customers are reliant on us to deliver their goods timeously throughout South Africa and all over the world, he said.
ISO 9002 registration brings quality management in our operation, which includes air and sea, imports and exports, warehousing, cartage and customer liaison, in line with that of our global forwarding agent, Panalpina.
The beauty of this internationally recognised quality system is that it does not end with registration, but is self-improving.
Regular audits ensure that the procedures are adhered to and that they are continually fine-tuned to meet changing requirements, assuring our customers of consistent quality service into the next century and beyond.
Safcor believes that it is now essential for a professional freight company to be ISO 9002 listed.
Entire Safcor operation achieves its objective
