Partnerships against crime work.
That's the unequivocal message from police involved in the container industry anti-crime campaign.
Pivotal to its success has been the co-operation not only between the police and management of the
companies involved, but also between police and the entire City Deep labour force.
Strong leadership in the industry and a willingness on the part of police and industry workers to trust each other has enabled us to successfully tackle organised crime, Captain Gielie Coetzee of the SAPS Container Crime Unit told FTW.
It's worked so well that criminals who used to work in Gauteng, especially City Deep, have moved to greener pastures.
It is a partnership against crime which hopefully will engulf the rest of the country. If it can work in Johannesburg, it can work anywhere.
