The Dutch-owned dredging specialist, Van Oord, is to carry out emergency dredging works in the Beira container port on behalf ofCFM, the ports and railways company.
CFM said in a statement that reinstating the port access channel to its charted lines was “of great importance to facilitating the growing maritime transport in this region”. The project will be completed within six months.
The Port of Beira acts as a gateway to the central interior of the country as well as the land-locked nations of Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
