AN ENVIRONMENTAL impact assessment (EIA) process for a proposed new port control centre in Durban is shortly to begin, following the announcement by Portnet that it intends to relocate port control from the T-Jetty to the site of the existing signal tower on the Bluff, the circular white building overlooking the port entrance that resembles a lighthouse.
A Durban engineering company, Eyethu Engineers, has been appointed to carry out the EIA and to assist with the scoping stage of the process. All interested and affected parties are asked to contact Mr W Wray on 031-202 8899 or fax 031-202 8998.
Two initial public meetings will also be held at the Emtateni Centre in the ocean terminal Building at 12.30 and 17.00 on May 18
