Ray Smuts “BE MORE positive about your country.” That, in essence, was the parting message last week from Peter Ehrenreich, outgoing managing director of Maersk South Africa. Addressing Maersk clients in Cape Town last week at his farewell function which also served to welcome and introduce his old friend, colleague and successor Flemming Dalgaard, Ehrenreich, who leaves for Singapore this week to become Safmarine’s regional senior executive for the Far East and Oceania, said South Africa abounded with opportunities. Paying tribute to Ehrenreich, Lars Reno Jakobsen, CEO Maersk Sealand sub-Saharan Africa, said Ehrenreich had doubled the company’s marketshare during his four-year stay in the country, “something you can really say with a lot of pride.” The theme was very much Asia meets Africa when Peter Ehrenreich, right, outgoing m.d. of Maersk South Africa - he’s off to Singapore - bid farewell and introduced his successor Flemming Dalgaard - he’s from Beijing in China.
