Growing exports is critical for the City of Cape Town to build a stronger, more resilient and inclusive economy.“Increasing export opportunities by connecting local producers with international buyers directly speaks to this goal,” said Alderman James Vos, the City’s mayoral committee member for economic growth. According to Vos, the City has continued to motivate for platforms that make market access easier for local business as part of a bigger strategy to move more Cape products into markets across the globe. One initiative that has continued to gain ground is the ”Made in the Cape” region of origin brand. Vos said it had become synonymous with quality products and services that tell the story of a unique place within South Africa. Launched in the UK, it was being expanded to other markets while also encouraging local exporters to expand their global footprint.
