TRANSNET SUBSIDIARY B2B Africa will close its doors in April after four years in existence.
The B2B eLogistics model embraced the ‘glass pipeline’ concept and was intended to facilitate communication between Spoornet, the ports and shippers.
But the division’s hefty losses over the past two years, have forced drastic action.
According to the Financial Mail, marketing executive Deirdre Strydom has joined Spoornet, while e-logistics executive manager Dheenan Naidoo has moved to Transnet head office.
Its 40-strong staff has either been redeployed at Spoornet or the ports, or offered a retrenchment package.
