There were no amendments to the Customs and Excise Act - 1 June 2001 Although the intention of this column is to look at the weekly changes in the tariff dispensation and amendments to the rules of Customs & Excise legislation, it is believed that informing readers of tariff applications and anti-dumping notices as and when they appear might be of value. Accordingly the notices in this respect that appeared in the Government Gazette on 26 April 2001 are captured below. Anti-dumping duty imposed - 30 May 2001 Anti-dumping duties have been imposed on printed bed linen of cotton and/or man made fibres imported from Malawi and Pakistan. The extent of the anti-dumping duties ranges from 13.83% to 109.86%. Anti-dumping application - 25 May 2001 A notice appeared in respect of a final determination of the investigation into the alleged dumping of aluminium conductor steel reinforced (ASCR) originating in or imported from India and Bahrain and/or the alleged subsidised export of ASCR originating in or imported from India. Readers who are interested in responding to this application should do so by no later than 25 June 2001.
