E-mail: riaan@tariff.co.za Tariff Amendments (Correction Notice) – 26 October 2007 Readers will recall that the tariff amendment of 12 October 2 007 related to various provisions being created in Schedule No.1 Part 1 of the Customs and Excise Act 91 of 1964 (the Act) i.e. “Ordinary Customs Duty”, for: ● Ostrich meat products; ● Ostrich egg products; ● Ostrich feather products; and ● Ostrich leather products. The Correction Notice is in respect of: ● Ostrich leather; ● Footwear with uppers of ostrich leather; ● Worked ostrich egg shells; and ● Feather dusters of ostrich feather. These tariff amendments are introduced with retrospective effect to 12 October 2007. Tariff Amendments – 26 October 2007 The effect of this amendment is that Note 6 in Part 3 of Schedule No. 6 i.e. “Rebates and Refunds of Excise Duties and Fuel Levies” is amended to include electricity generation plants with effect from 1 October 2 007. Trade Remedy Amendments – 26 October 2007 The imposition of a provisional payment (provisional anti-dumping duty) on plates, sheets, film, foil and strip of polymers of vinyl chloride (PVC), non-cellular and not reinforced, laminated, supported or similarly combined with other materials and having a plasticiser content not exceeding 6% originating in or imported from the People’s Republic of China. The imposition of a provisional payment on plates, sheets, film, foil and strip of PVC, non-cellular and not reinforced, laminated, supported or similarly combined with other materials and having a plasticiser content not exceeding 6% originating in or imported from Taiwan (also known as Chinese Taipei). Trade Remedy Applications – Response Due Initiation of a Sunset Review of the Anti-dumping Duties on Stranded Wire, Ropes and Cables originating in or imported from the People’s Republic of China, Germany, Korea (South Korea), and the United Kingdom. Initiation of a Sunset Review of the Countervailing Duties on Stranded Wire, Ropes and Cables originating in or imported from India. Response due by 16 November 2007.
