Construction on the M13 Highway and the Essex Terrace Interchange in Westville, Durban, is currently under way.

According to the eThekwini Transport Authority, traffic flow on the highway has been changed and will remain in effect for the next seven months.

“The construction will see the bridge on the M13 over Lincoln Terrace extended on both east- and west-bound carriageways.

“The on and off ramps will also be upgraded, extended and realigned to accommodate current and expected increases in traffic,” the Authority said.

Its head, Thami Manyathi, said that it was estimated that the entire interchange development would be completed in the next 14 months.

“We ask that people exercise caution when using the roads, and heed the temporary traffic signs and instructions, and road safety warnings.”
