Durban company to salvage sunken Beira trawler

A Durban-based salvage company, Subtech Diving & Marine, has been awarded the contract to salvage the sunken trawler Zambezia in the entrance to the Port of Beira. The trawler sank in the harbour entrance during the recent cyclone that devastated large parts of Mozambique, effectively closing the port for almost a week. A number of other fishing trawlers also sank at their moorings inside the port.
Entry to the port was only allowed after a survey undertaken by Smit Pentow Marine determined that vessels could squeeze past the sunken trawler.
