Dudula and Bidfreight part company

Terry Hutson AFTER A three year partnership in Dudula Freightbulk, Bidfreight (a division of Bidvest) and Dudula Shipping Co (DSC) have agreed to part company, with Bidvest purchasing Dudula's 50% shareholding in Dudula Freightbulk for an undisclosed sum. "We enjoyed years of great partnership with the Bidvest Group and our relationship will continue as we explore other opportunities and areas of co-operation," said Sithembiso Mthethwa, Dudula's CEO. He said that over the past few years Dudula had To page 28 From page 1 expanded its service offering but now needed to streamline its business by refocusing on certain core services. "Otherwise we run the risk of falling short of meeting our clients' requirements." Much of Dudula Shipping's strength lies in the petrochemical industry and the company has strong interests in terminal and logistic operations. Piet Steyn, chairman of Rennies Ships Agency and director of Bidvest, told FTW that Bidvest was proud of the good relations developed with Dudula. "Looking back over the years, it prides us to see DSC progressing as it has in the maritime industry, and the good relations we have developed in that period. We have identified greater opportunities for both companies in the terminals and other logistics services that we will be exploring following this transaction." He said that the company would now be known as Freightbulk, and would continue providing an inclusive bulk logistics shipping package to importers, ship owners and operators under the continued direction of MD Chris Clark. The management team and staff remain unchanged.
