DTI looks after exports to Russia

ALAN PEAT WHILE EXPORTS to Turkey and Russia were given preferential duty rates in those markets in November last year, the SA Revenue Service (Sars) has since stalled the administration of the generalised system of preference (GSP) for Russian-bound goods “until further notice”. According to customs specialists, Deloitte, this was contained in a Sars notice dated December 5, 2005. “In the interim,” the report added, “exporters must continue to make use of the services provided by the department of trade and industry (DTI).”
